Manusmriti, Baburnama to be Dropped from Delhi University History Syllabus

Delhi University (DU) is set to withdraw a proposal to include Manusmriti and Baburnama in its undergraduate History honours syllabus following strong opposition from faculty members. Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh confirmed that he would use his emergency powers to ensure the proposal is not placed before the Academic Council (AC).

The decision to introduce these texts was approved by the History Department’s Joint Committee of Courses on February 19. However, it had yet to be cleared by the AC and the Executive Council (EC), which review syllabus changes.
