Raising “serious objections” over the probe into an incident in which a seven-year-old boy was allegedly slapped by fellow students on the instructions of their teacher at a private school in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, the Supreme Court Monday said the FIR was registered “after a long delay” and directed that the investigation be monitored by a senior IPS officer.

A bench of Justices A S Oka and Pankaj Mithal noted that some of the allegations by the boy’s father were missing from the FIR and added, “we have serious objection to the manner in which FIR is registered”.
