Provide Uniforms and Books, Meet Admission Criteria for EWS Kids, DoE Tells DPS Dwarka

Several students at the Delhi Public School, Dwarka, admitted under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category are allegedly being asked to pay for their uniforms and books every year — all of which are supposed to be free for these children under the law. The school has also failed to meet the 25% reservation policy for EWS and disadvantaged groups, The Indian Express has learnt.
According to an order issued by the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) on May 22, the total number of students admitted to DPS Dwarka in the financial years 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23 are 3,388, 3,484 and 3,486 students respectively out of which only 19.10%, 20.81% and 22.17% in the respective years belong to the EWS category…
