Parents of 19 Rohingya Children Approach Delhi Govt. School for Admissions

Parents of 19 Rohingya children, who were denied admission to the government schools in the past, have on Tuesday approached government-run schools — Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya and Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya — in the north east Delhi. An official at one of the two schools said that they will follow the protocol set by the department.

The Supreme Court on February 17 disposed of a petition, filed by Advocate Ashok Agarwal, seeking school admission for the Rohingya children, stating that the they must first apply to government schools where they are eligible. If admission is denied despite eligibility, they are free to approach the Delhi High Court, the Supreme Court said in its order…
