90,000 Students Have Lost Access to HE in Gaza – Academic

Over and above those tragically killed, as many as 90,000 students in the Gaza Strip have lost access to higher education as a result of Israel’s ongoing military attacks on universities that started in October 2023, according to a senior West Bank university official.

While some Gaza universities have switched to remote teaching, Dr Ala Alazzeh, an assistant professor and vice-president for community affairs at Birzeit University in Ramallah, West Bank, told University World News that funds to pay academics have run dry while students cannot afford fees due to the destruction of the Gaza Strip’s economy…
