UGC Draft Guidelines a Ploy by Centre to Give ‘Super Power’ to Governors, Weaken State Govts: Karnataka Education Minister

Bengaluru: Karnataka is preparing a point-by-point reply to the draft guidelines issued by University Grants Commission (UGC) According to Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar, the said quidelines give "super power to Governors and "weaken" state governments.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Friday the minister said that the recent-Draft UGC (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment and Promotion of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) Regulations, 2025 cannot be accepted

"Chief Minister has already issued a statement raising objections. I am preparing point-by-point reply to the draft and the same we will sent to the UGC and also to the Union Education Minister"…
