Probation Extended Arbitrarily: JNU Teachers’ Body; As per Rules, Says VC

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers’ Association (JNUTA) Monday alleged that the probation period for several newly appointed faculty members has been extended arbitrarily, despite strong recommendations for their confirmation by the respective academic centres. The teachers’ body urged the university administration to immediately reverse these extensions. However, Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit said the extension was done as part of UGC regulations.

“The Vice-Chancellor has issued extension orders against the strong recommendations for confirmation sent by the centres and schools of the concerned faculty,” JNUTA stated, as it urged the administration to immediately roll back these orders….
