‘No Politics’ Undertaking for Bangladeshi Students at Delhi University

Bangladeshi students studying at Delhi University on scholarships funded by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) are required to sign an undertaking barring them from political activities, forming unions or visiting sensitive areas in India, according to documents accessed by TOI. A violation of these terms can lead to the cancellation of their scholarship and possible deportation. There has been a surge in Bangladeshi student enrolments in DU following the recent political instability in their home country. Their rising number is also attributed to the external affairs ministry increasing ICCR scholarships to attract foreign students.
