Gag order on IIM-Bangalore professor for ‘violating’ institute’s service rules

BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has imposed a gag order on one of its faculty members – Prof Deepak Malghan, an associate professor in public policy. IIMB said the decision was taken after an inquiry committee, constituted by the institute, found several tweets by Prof Malghan “violating the institute’s service rules”. Prof Malghan is known for his fight against issues of caste discrimination in IITs and IIMs, including IIMB.He has consistently tweeted about how premier institutes have flouted the reservation policy, apart from raising other issues, including lack of transparency of the board. Posting a picture of the preamble of the Constitution and a clipping of Article 19 on microblogging platform X, Prof Malghan tweeted: “I have been issued a gag order not to post any material connected with IIM. While I have challenged the order, this will be my pinned tweet for now.”….
