CBI Finds UGC-NET 'Paper Leak' Evidence Doctored

The CBI investigation into the purported UGC-NET paper leak has revealed that the evidence prompting the Education Ministry to cancel the exam, which took place across 317 cities on June 18 with over 9 lakh candidates, was manipulated, government sources informed The Indian Express. The decision to cancel the exam, crucial for entry-level teaching positions and PhD admissions in Indian universities, was made on June 19 based on concerns raised by the Ministry of Home Affairs about potential compromises to the exam's integrity.

The input was a screenshot of a UGC-NET paper circulating on a Telegram channel around 2 pm on the exam day (June 18). Messages and comments accompanying the screenshot indicated that the paper had been leaked before the first session of the exam.
