“Brutal Crackdown,” Say Suspended Jamia Millia Islamia Students, Vowing to Fight Unitedly

A group of suspended students from Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) held a press conference at the Press Club of India on February 16, condemning what they called a “brutal crackdown” by the university administration and Delhi Police.

The students, many of whom belong to various student organizations, had been suspended for participating in protests on campus. They gathered under the banner of United Students of Jamia to demand justice and reinstatement.

Speaking to  Maktoob, the students accused the Jamia administration of using excessive force and intimidation to suppress dissent. They highlighted the events of February 13, 2024, when several students were allegedly detained during a pre-dawn crackdown at the university’s Central Canteen protest site….
